For this class you will need:
1. A constant supply of pencils
We will use pencils every single day. Please, so do not bring 50 pencils on the first say of school and expect them to last all year. If you have a stockpile of pencils, keep them somewhere safe at home. Students should always have at least 2 and no more than 10 pencils in their desk at school. At least one of those pencils should be a "regular" pencil (not mechanical).
2. Folders and notebooks
One of our goals in 4th grade is to teach students the school skills that they will need to be successful as they head towards graduation. One of those skills is organization. Students should have enough folders and notebooks to keep their notes, assignments, review papers, and homework. 6 folders and 3 notebooks will probably do the trick. (Parents, be aware that some students end up needing replacement folders or notebooks before the school year is over.)
3. Basic craft supplies
We will occasionally use scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils, or dry-erase markers. It would be a good idea to have these items available for each student, but we also have supplies to share within the classroom. Crayons could be used at times as well. Mr. Sterken will not ask the students to use markers for any assignment, but students might like to have markers to use at school during free time (Well, we might use markers to make a poster).
